  • 7/30/10 SEAoO is seeking nominations for two officer positions and two board of director positions.  Please note that nominations must be made by SEAoO members.  A member may of course nominate him/herself for a position.  To nominate a candidate for a position please forward the name and contact information for both yourself and the candidate to Kip Ping by emailing to nominations@seaoo.org.  If you have any questions regarding nominations, please forward them to Kip at that same email address. The positions aer as follows:
    • President-elect: This is a one year term after which the President-elect ascends to a one year term as President.  To be eligible for this position the candidate must be a professional engineer and member of SEAoO.  The President-elect fills the role of President in the absence of the latter.  The President is the chief governing officer and presides at all meetings of the Association and of the Board of Directors.  The President is also ex-officio member of all committees.
    • Treasurer: This is a two year term.  To be eligible for this position the candidate must be a member of SEAoO.  The Treasurer keeps financial records and handles accounts receivable/payable for the Association and the Board of Directors.
    • Director: These two positions are for three year terms.  To be eligible for this position the candidate must be a member of SEAoO.  The Board of Directors exercises the powers of the Association and controls the Association’s property and affairs.
  • 7/30/10 The following will be the calendar used for this year’s elections:

    • 9/20       Send out ballots to membership
    • 10/22     Deadline for return of ballots
    • 11/5        Announcement of election results
    • 1/1/11     New directors and officers take elected positions
  • 07/15/10 The Conference adgenda is now fully updated.  This year's conference will provide 14 professional development hours which is quite a bargain for the price of the conference.  We can be economical on the fee for this seminar because of our non-profit status and the hard work of our volunteers.  We will have nationally known speakers and you won't find a better seminar or conference for the price.  Check it out by clicking HERE.
  • 07/09/10 The Masonry Standards Joint Committee (MSJC) has completed revisions to Building Code Requirements and Specification for Masonry Structures (TMS 402/ACI 520/ASCE 5 and TMS 602/ACI 530.1/ASCE 6). TMS is accepting public comments on the provisions until August 15, 2010.  SEAoO encourages you to review the proposed revisions by the Committee and let your voice be heard by providing your comments as needed.  You can do so via the TMS website by clicking HERE.  Public comments will be accepted through August 15th.
  • 06/08/10 SEAoO president, Dick Meyer, was on site for the establishing of Ohio State University as the second student chapter of SEAoO.  We continue to look for other opportunities with universities and colleges to promote structural engineering.  Contact Dick at president@seaoo.org if you would like to help out with this effort or have suggestions.
