Plum Brook Station Tour

Ohio is fortunate to have the world’s largest space simulator, which simulates all outer space conditions(extreme cold and heat, vibration, electromagnetic, acoustical, nearly pure vacuum, etc.), except micro-gravity.   The walls of the space simulator are  8 foot thick and the floor is 12 foot thick concrete.  The facility has tested most major rockets, the space station, and the mars rover airbag landing system.

SEAoO is fortunate to have Neo Hadjicharalambous, a SEAoO Board member and employee of URS, stationed at NASA Plum Brook facility, providing construction support to prepare the facility  for testing of “Orion”, the next generation space launch vehicle which will take us back to the moon, on to mars, and beyond.  Attendees will be bussed around the site by NASA.  Space is limited to 36 people, so sign up early.  Non-US citizens and foreign nationals must submit their RSVP’s 6 weeks in advance for NASA security checks.

For additional information on this remarkable facility, please visit the links provided below.  For additional information on the tour, click on the pdf link above to see our flyer.

RSVP to neophytos.g.hadjicharalambous@nasa.gov.  Please note that non-US citizens and Foreign Nationals must RSVP by 2-5-10 due to a requirement for background checks.
