What do We Do ?
If you are a member of the general public, you may wonder what does a Structural Engineer really do ?
The easiest way to define what we do is to relate our responsibility to the human body. Structural Engineers would design the skeleton of the human body. We design the portion which supports all the loads, is subjected to all the stresses, and provides the "base" for everything else. If one were to peel-back the skin of a building, the "skeleton" could be easily seen. On bridges, the "skeleton" is usually in plain view, thus our work is readily observable.
Our Mission
The thrust of SEAoO is to inform all parties about the importance of Structural Engineering to the safety, health, and welfare of the general public as well as promote excellence in our profession. Our association is founded upon underlying principles regarding the importance of knowledge, integrity, honesty, and diligence in our daily efforts that result in structures (buildings, bridges, etc.) that are dependable and safe for all who use them.
